Use Visuals
Kids are primarily visual learners. One of the best ways to teach them about the importance of brushing their teeth and avoiding too much sugar is to use a visual object like a puppet. By acting out different scenarios with the puppet, you can explain to your child what happens if they don’t take care of their teeth. By sparking interest with visual objects, this will also encourage your little ones to ask questions.
Read Books
The library and websites like Amazon have books that were made for this very thing. Consider buying or checking out a few books on oral hygiene for your kids and read them to your children before they brush their teeth at night. By reading before brushing, you can use this as a perfect learning opportunity.
Use Small Vocabulary
Often when adults are discussing medically based topics, they use jargon that is impossible for kids to understand. When you are talking to your kids about their oral health, make sure that you are using words that they can comprehend. The easier you make the explanations, the more they will be able to understand what you are saying.
